The Martian is absolutely awesome! Ridley Scott directed this film very well, Matt Damon pulls off one of his best performances in years and if you haven't seen The Martian, you definitely need to check it out. The CGI is handled well, even though it is kind of obvious that it is CGI however the film had me invested so much that I didn't care. The scenes at Mars are breathtaking as well as kind of scary too because of what Mark Watney is going through. This film had a danger of being too sappy but they nailed the tone well!ģ. But then there are times where things go down and its very intense and heartfelt, this film manages to balance both tones very well. Now, the New York Times best-seller is about to put NASAs Red Planet plans in the limelight. The jokes are well written and it helps to keep you enlightened. Self-proclaimed science geek Andy Weir never thought The Martian would be published. The tone this film is pretty funny actually. Jeff Daniels was great as well as the rest of the cast. Chiwetel Ejiofor was awesome! He is very likable and you are on his side when he tries desperately to get Mark Watney off Mars. He was entertaining, he added a lot of humanity to his character and when there are scenes where he is sad as well as going through some difficult situations, you feel it. Matt Damon was mesmerizing in this movie. The characters this film has a humongous cast so I'm going to list the stand outs, well for me anyway. The Martian was so great! I loved every minute of it! Let me explain what I loved.ġ. Ridley uses his dreamily effervescent and textured perspective to deliver a film that is great, if a tad overlong in places. Jessica Chastain is also a perfect compliment to Damon's presence, providing a cosmic yin yang chemistry. Damon doesn't seem to take the role too seriously and this is a good thing, however is performance is undeniably believable. Matt Damon's brilliant performance grounds the film throughout and is constant, committed and extremely well executed. It's a genuinely brilliant story, however.

The Martian is not a comedy, but nor is it a thriller. The cheesy disco soundtrack helps fuel this slightly lighthearted feeling throughout and is also bolstered by the cameo of Kristen Wiig, mostly known for her dry and darkly comic roles and proves once again that she can lighten up the bleakest of films. Though in travel, humans have never been on a spacecraft that has flown to Mars partly because the "gravitational assist" effects on the human body are not fully understood yet.Almost zany in its attempt to deliver a castaway story on Mars, its meandering tone and pace are refreshing in such a serious, heady genre and is probably the happiest film about space (are there really any happy films about space?), particularly being lost in space. It predicts new technology, new weather systems, and even explains how the human brain's neurons fire together in neuroplasticity. Chaos Theory is used for more than space travel. This math is important in finding "the freeways" in space that move the spaceship faster, because the amount of fuel needed to visit distant planets cannot be carried by one rocket. This movement basically "throws" spaceships into distant locations using less fuel. If the object moves to an unstable point, it propels the rocket into additional space pathways. (In the movie, stability was landing on Earth). If a object gravitates toward one of the stable points, it may stall in space. In the math calculations, there are two types of locations that lead to either stability or instability. The process stems from Chaos Theory Mathematics. This procedure is actually real, but it has not been performed with humans onboard. The crew decided to apply a maneuver that would use Earth's gravitational properties to propel the spaceship faster back to Mars. Also in the movie, there was a "gravitational assist" move planned with a manned spacecraft.
